4th of July, Take 2

We celebrated 4th of July quietly this year. My mom came over to spend time with the boys and mostly we just relaxed at home and did a bunch of nothing. Well that morning I got the urge to clean and Carl herded the boys outside and I cleaned up those little things that were bothering me and my house was spotless. Of course by Tuesday it was all back and I question why I bother sometimes. So here are a few of the ways we celebrated this 4th.

Naked swimming and naked butts doing dives into the air. I am seriously impressed by the air this child got.

Husking corn with Grandma and she really let them help and Elliot loved every single second of it.

Me whisking the whipped cream because Martha Stewart told me too. Later I gave up and took out the electric mixer, I have no idea what she was talking about it curdling...

A lot of happy moments and moments from our past.

Then the fun part, grandma brought over snaps and we played with those for a long time. Two and three year old boys seriously think these are the best things ever and they are pretty safe.

Then the party poppers because we can't have fireworks, but these are legal.

Then Glenn and Annie who flew in from China that day surprised us with a visit. I think they just needed an excuse and people around so they would stay awake. So they taught my kids how to throw poppers at people. I should have stopped it when I realized what was happening, but it had gone too far!

Let's not forget the 5th lizard we saw that day, but everyone thinks it fun to point them out to the boys. We seriously see 3-5 lizards every day, we are over them at this point.

Then presents from China, and present time is always a good time for the boys.

We ended the evening by watching fireworks in the front yard with a perfect unobstructed view. I was worried the new two-story house across the street would be a problem. Oh and there were about 5 different cars that randomly pulled up on our street to stop and watch the fireworks. We sure are lucky we get to watch them at home.

About Heather

My photo
I am a Los Angles based photographer and mom of 2 wonderful boys. Photography has been a passion of mine over 15 years now, ever since I picked up my first camera in journalism school and started developing my black and whites in a darkroom. The instant an affordable DSLR came out on the market in 2002, I had to have one and have been shooting digital since. Once I became a mom I realized how much I enjoy photographing children and how much better I could understand their nuances so it became a passion of mine. Their is such innocence and beauty in their pictures and I feel privileged to be a part of that. I am constantly trying new approaches and tuning my skills to create the art that is in my head, not just the art that I can create right now. I am very interested in off camera flash, and the depth and clarity it adds to my photographs. Sometimes I take breaks from my blog and photography, but it seems to never leave me completely. I always come back.
