I was a little unsure as to how Erik would react to the green eggs and ham, but I knew that as soon they offered the kids the opportunity to cook themselves Erik would be one of the first kids to volunteer. He absolutely loves cooking and I am going to sign him up for cooking classes very soon.
First they shook up the butter. This was actually heavy whipping cream that turned into butter when you shook it. A fantastic idea and I heard it tasted great. I am on a strict calorie intact so I didn't try anything.
Then all the kids got to cut the ham. I learned about Erik's interest in cutting when his teachers told me how much he liked slicing apples in preschool. We have been cutting things at home for a long time now.
Then all the kids got to crack eggs. I am sure this was first for many, but one day Erik cracked an egg behind my back so I realized this skill of his a while ago, but of course he was willing to jump in and try at school.
Then it was the magic moment, Teacher Karin gathered all the kids around to show them how the yellow eggs turned green. A picture was taken because it was such a rare day for these kids to be still and all in one spot.
Then every kid got a chance to mix the eggs. I actually have this hand mixer at home I might have to bring it out once in a while so Erik can give it a whirl.
Then one of the parent helpers cooked up the ham and eggs for the children and it was put out for them to enjoy after circle time.
The end verdict is that the eggs were delicious and Erik actually ate three helpings of them he loved it so much. I might have to try that trick every once in a while to get him to eat his breakfast. I am very curious if he would eat them at home like he did at school.
